According to medical sources, eight people were killed in attacks in the south of the coastal region.
Israel's army had previously announced that it had attacked targets after rockets were fired at Israeli towns from the area during the night. Residents of eastern neighborhoods of the city of Chan Junis had previously been asked to leave the area. The terrorist organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) claimed responsibility for the attack on Israeli border towns with around 20 rockets the previous day.
According to the army, fighting also continued elsewhere in the Gaza Strip. The military also reported the death of two soldiers during an operation in the area. Another soldier was also seriously injured.
According to the Hamas-controlled health authority, at least 37,925 people have been killed and a further 87,141 injured in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war. The figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants and cannot be independently verified.
The war was triggered by the massacre of more than 1,200 people killed by terrorists from Hamas and other groups in Israel on October 7.
