Politics Russia covers Ukraine with new airstrikes
New massive Russian attacks with drones and cruise missiles have triggered an air alert in large parts of Ukraine. Around 15 regions were affected this morning, including Mykolaiv in the south and Dnipropetrovsk in the center of the country, according to air defense officials on Telegram. According to the authorities, eight people were injured in an attack using drones and glide bombs in the eastern region of Sumy, which is close to the front. Emergency services also found a dead man in the rubble of a house. Seven people had previously been reported injured. Parts of the energy infrastructure, which has been repeatedly attacked by Russia, were also destroyed.

According to the authorities, a woman was also killed in the Cherkassy region in the center of Ukraine. The authorities called on people to take shelter in air raid shelters. During the night, the capital Kiev also declared an air raid alert. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, one woman was injured. Part of a drone that had been shot down crashed through a window into her apartment. The woman was operated on in hospital.
The air defense in Kiev announced that all enemy drones around the capital had been destroyed. In total, more than 100 air strikes were reported to have taken place in the country.
Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian war of aggression for almost 1,000 days. The country is demanding even more air defense systems from its Western supporters to better protect its cities.
