Two military jets collided mid-flight in eastern France, killing two of the pilots. The two Rafale fighter jets collided near Colombey-les-Belles near the city of Nancy on Wednesday while returning from a mission in Germany, according to the air force.

A third pilot was able to save himself with the ejection seat and was quickly found safe and sound.

President Emmanuel Macron said that the country was mourning the loss of the two pilots along with their families. The aircraft were based in Saint-Dizier in eastern France. There was initially no information on the cause of the accident.
