Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sees the fall as a decisive phase for the further course and end of the war. "Together with our partners, we can strengthen our position as necessary for our joint victory - for a truly just peace," said Zelenskyi in his daily video address. According to him, a just outcome is when Russia has to answer for the war of aggression and feels its consequences. This time, Zelensky held his speech on board an airplane. Shortly afterwards, the president's press service published pictures of the plane landing in the USA.

In his video address, Zelensky announced that he wanted to present the so-called victory plan to US President Joe Biden, the two presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump and both parties in Congress. He said he would also present the plan, the details of which he had not previously disclosed, to other state leaders.
Appearance before the UN General Assembly
The reason for Zelensky's trip is the UN Future Summit. Today, the Ukrainian president plans to speak at the Future Summit at UN headquarters. According to information from his office, Zelensky is scheduled to attend the UN Security Council meeting on the Ukraine issue on Tuesday and is expected to speak at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.
On the fringes of the event, Zelensky intends to hold talks with international heads of state and government. A meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is also planned.
Important trip for Selenskyj
In addition to the major UN event, Zelensky is also using the trip to once again campaign for support from both parties in Washington ahead of the upcoming US presidential election. He will be received by President Biden in the White House, among others.
The USA is the most important military supporter of Ukraine, which has been defending itself against a Russian war of aggression for two and a half years. While Kiev can be relatively certain of further support from Washington if the Democrats win, Republican presidential candidate Trump's foreign policy course on Ukraine is unclear. During the election campaign, he repeatedly stated that he wanted to achieve peace quickly, but did not say how or on what terms.
Difficult situation in Ukraine
While Selensky is looking for further help abroad, the situation at home remains difficult. There were further Russian attacks on Ukraine during the night. In Ternopol, parts of the city lost power during the night. The media previously reported an explosion at a substation. According to official reports, however, there were no injuries.
The governor of the southern Ukrainian region of Zaporizhia, Ivan Fedorov, also reported explosions. The air defense had previously warned of Russian glide bombs being dropped. There were initially no further details about the consequences. Ukraine's hinterland is also repeatedly attacked by drones, missiles and guided bombs.
Meanwhile, the fighting on the front continues with sudden ferocity. According to the General Staff in Kiev, there were well over 100 clashes between Russian and Ukrainian troops during the course of the day. The most intensive attacks were once again carried out by the Russian military between the towns of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk, according to the evening situation report.
