Search engines are used more frequently by people over 55 than by younger people. There is a trend towards less use of e-mails, Comparis reported on Thursday. Five years ago, 86% still used email providers; in 2024, the figure is 78.4%. Messenger services have gained in importance compared to 2019 and account for 77% of usage.
Bills enjoy a high level of trust
The Swiss feel secure when shopping with digital payment methods. Twint is the clear frontrunner, the report continued. On a trust scale of 1 to 10, Twint achieves an average score of 7.2. In comparison with analog means of payment, Twint is in second place. Invoices are considered the most secure means of payment with an average score of 8.1.
Debit cards slipped to fourth place compared to the previous year, with a score of 6.9. Comparis sees the increased use of smartphones as a means of payment as the reason for this.
The Swiss have the greatest trust in banks and authorities when it comes to the serious handling of customer data. However, this trust has shrunk significantly compared to 2019, as Comparis wrote.
