Storm Several missing after landslide in Ticino

Several people are missing in the Maggia Valley after a landslide. According to the Ticino cantonal police on Sunday morning, the accident occurred in the Fontana area.

The bad weather is making the rescue work more difficult, the Ticino cantonal police wrote on Sunday.

The cantonal road through the Maggia Valley is also reportedly interrupted, as a bridge collapsed in Visletto, a district of Cevio TI. Several side valleys are therefore no longer accessible by land.

The campsites along the Maggia were also evacuated, it was reported. Some of the affected areas lost power and internet connections, as reported online by the newspaper "La Regione".
