Cantonal elections SH 55 out of 60 incumbents want to return to the Schaffhausen Cantonal Council

For the Schaffhausen cantonal council elections, 55 of the 60 council members are back on the lists. The reshuffle did not result in any changes: 568 candidates remain in the race.

A total of 15 parties are running, as announced by the Schaffhausen State Chancellery on Wednesday. With the SVP, SP, FDP, GLP, EDU, EVP, Young Greens, Greens, Die Mitte, SVP Seniors, Young SVP, SVP Agro and SVP SMEs, all parties represented in the cantonal council are back. The only parties not yet represented on the council are the Juso and Jungfreisinnige.

Of the incumbents, Iren Eichenberger (Greens, Schaffhausen), the non-party Urs Capaul (Schaffhausen), who had joined the Greens' parliamentary group, René Schmidt (GLP, Schaffhausen), Kurt Zubler (SP, Schaffhausen) and Erhard Stamm (SVP KMU, Stetten) are no longer standing.

Of the 568 candidates, 214 are women and 354 men (62 percent). In the last elections, 549 people ran for the seats.

All 15 parties are running with one list each in the Schaffhausen constituency. In the Klettgau, Reiat and Stein constituencies, 14 lists each were submitted, in the Neuhausen constituency 13 lists and in the Buchberg-Rüdlingen constituency 10 lists. The Young Liberals are only running in Schaffhausen. The SVP Seniors are not running in Neuhausen and in Buchberg-Rüdlingen the FDP, Mitte, SVP Agro and Seniors and Young Liberals are not running. Elections will be held on September 22.
