Traffic was backed up for ten kilometers in front of the Gotthard north portal after 05:15 on Saturday, according to a TCS post on Platform X. The traffic jam swelled during the night after it had temporarily eased on Friday evening.

The heavy traffic at the start of the summer vacation was expected. By Friday afternoon, traffic was already backed up for ten kilometers. Travel to the north also required patience. Between Quinto and Airolo TI, the TCS recorded a time loss of up to 40 minutes on Friday afternoon.
