In the canton of Basel-Landschaft, the average health insurance premium across all age groups will rise by 5.3 percent or CHF 21.40 per month to CHF 427.10 in 2025 compared to the current year. According to the federal government, this increase is slightly below the Swiss average of 6.0 percent.

For adults aged 26 and over in Basel, the monthly premium for compulsory health insurance including optional deductibles and models will increase by an average of 5.1 percent or CHF 24.50 to CHF 503.90. The additional costs per year amount to CHF 294.00. This is according to figures published on Thursday by the Federal Office of Public Health. The average premium in Switzerland is 449.20 francs.
For young adults aged between 19 and 25, the premium will rise by 4.3 percent or CHF 14.40 to CHF 347.00. For children up to the age of 18, the premium will rise by 4.8 percent or 6.00 francs to 130.60 francs.
According to a statement from the Basel-Landschaft Health Department, the 2025 premium increase is also due to a "catch-up effect and the health insurers' solvency build-up of half a percent each". The canton of Basel-Landschaft remains actively committed to curbing cost growth.
