Berne Bern's urban climate initiative officially off the table

The urban climate initiative is officially off the table. The municipal council formally confirmed the valid withdrawal by the initiative committee, as announced on Thursday.

This clears the way for the counter-proposal, which the city council adopted in the form of regulations on June 13. The climate adaptation regulations have the same thrust as the initiative, but provide for additional greening measures in addition to the unsealing of street space.

If no referendum is held against the bill, the municipal council can bring the new regulations directly into force.
