Michael Tschopp, COO and deputy CEO, will therefore initially take over Schnitzler's responsibilities. After Tschopp's retirement and until a new CEO is appointed, three people will step into the breach: Christof Kull, Chief Physician and Head of the Heart, Vascular & Thorax Center, Cornelius-Monroe Huber, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Nicolas Geigy, Chief Physician Emergency Center.

Barbara Staehelin, President of the Board of Directors, was quoted in the press release as saying that the aim was to further develop the cantonal hospital, which is important for healthcare throughout the region, and make it fit for the future.
