The city of Zug is expecting a revenue surplus of CHF 2.5 million for 2025. Net investments of CHF 88 million are planned for next year, as announced by the city of Zug on Monday.

With an unchanged tax rate of 54 percent, the city of Zug is budgeting for 2025 with budgeted income of CHF 410.4 million and expenses of CHF 407.9 million.

Urs Raschle (center), Head of the Department of Finance, is quoted in the press release as saying that the city of Zug has a healthy financial budget. He is confident that the city will also be able to balance its accounts in the coming years.

According to the press release, the city is expecting tax income from companies to increase by CHF 9 million. It is assuming a slight fall in tax income from natural persons. According to the press release, these are likely to fall by CHF 4 million. One reason for this is the higher deductions and rate reductions granted to taxpayers in the eighth revision of the tax law.

Investments remain high. According to the press release, the budgeted net investments amount to CHF 88 million. This is around CHF 16 million higher than in the previous year. The largest chunks relate to school buildings (CHF 40 million) and real estate (CHF 23 million). The city plans to invest around 162 million francs in school buildings by 2028.

Compared to the previous year, payments to the cantonal financial equalization system are increasing. While these amounted to CHF 79.5 million last year, they are expected to be around CHF 101 million in 2025.
