The serious accident in Roggwil BE on Friday morning has cost one life. A 62-year-old man who was seriously injured in the accident died in hospital on the evening of the same day.

The Bern cantonal police issued a communiqué on Saturday announcing the man's death. No details were given as to why the accident occurred. The investigation is ongoing, it said.

The 62-year-old had been hit by a van while carrying out maintenance work on the side of the road from Wynau to Langenthal, as the police had already reported on Friday. Rega then took the man by helicopter to hospital in a critical condition, where he died a few hours later.
