The fire in a garage business in Rotkreuz ZG on June 28 was caused by a defective battery charging station. This was determined by the Zug police.

According to a statement from the Zug law enforcement authorities on Friday, the flames spread to the garage and also ignited the battery storage area. Numerous vehicles were also damaged. The building insurance company estimates the property damage at half a million francs.

Because the fire produced heavy smoke and a strong smell, residents were instructed to close their windows and turn off the ventilation. Several people who were in the attic apartment of the garage business had to be evacuated for safety reasons. No one was injured.
