A driver of a car with Italian license plates sustained serious injuries in an accident on the A2 freeway in Erstfeld UR on Wednesday morning. This was reported by the Uri cantonal police.

The man was driving from Amsteg in the direction of Erstfeld shortly before 06.30 am. In Amsteg, he stopped on the emergency lane. He then drove on the emergency lane as far as the Taubach tunnel before temporarily switching to the normal lane.

A little later, he suddenly swerved to the left from the emergency lane and collided head-on with the central crash barrier. The car came to a standstill as a result. A driver with Uri license plates recognized the vehicle too late. He was uninjured in the side collision.
