Government Council BS/BL Driving test to become more expensive in Baselland and Basel-Stadt
Taking a driving test will cost more in both Basel cantons in future. The Motor Vehicle Testing Station (MFP) of both Basel cantons is adjusting the fees as of October 1 this year. The fees for driving tests were last increased in 2004.

The Motor Vehicle Testing Station of both Basel regions is increasing its fees by an average of 17 percent, as the governments of both Basel regions announced on Tuesday. The increase is intended to adjust income to the increased expenditure, which is currently not sufficient to cover current expenditure.
According to the press release, the fees for vehicle tests, theory tests and practical driving tests are affected by the increase. According to the MFP website, the periodic test for a passenger car will cost CHF 78 from October 1, while a category B practical driving test will now cost CHF 138.
A new assessment of the situation is to be carried out for the period from 2027, the press release adds.
