However, the railroad line had to be temporarily interrupted, as the Lucerne police reported on Monday. A breath test carried out on the driver revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.08 per mille.

A similar incident occurred on Friday in Ballwil shortly before midnight. A driver with a blood alcohol level of 1.14 left the road and came to rest on the railroad tracks. The oncoming commuter train managed to stop in time and prevent a collision. Property damage of around CHF 10,000 was caused.

Both drivers are no longer allowed to drive a motor vehicle until a decision is made by the road traffic authority, writes the Lucerne police.
