The Elektra Baselland cooperative is acquiring 76 percent of an agrivoltaic project pipeline in Italy. The remaining 24 percent will remain in the possession of the current developers Ecotec and TÈKNE until the development phase is completed.

The acquired pipeline comprises a number of agri-solar projects in various regions of Italy, according to a press release issued by Elektra Baselland (EBL) on Thursday. The total output amounts to around 360 megawatts.

In agrivoltaics, solar panels and plants coexist. This maximizes soil productivity by providing shade, reducing water evaporation and protecting against extreme weather conditions.

The acquisition is a basis for the growth of EBL's newly launched investment fund.
