She received significantly fewer votes on Sunday than the other two candidates. She has now decided to drop out in favour of the GLP candidate Thomas Marti, as the EPP, Green Liberals and Mitte jointly announced on Tuesday. The aim is to secure the seat for the political center.

Marti received 4865 votes on Sunday, while the SP candidate Géraldine Mercedes Boesch received 4439 votes. EPP councillor Streiff received 2614 votes. The seat on the executive is vacant because GLP municipal councillor Thomas Brönnimann is stepping down at the end of the year.

The current legislature runs until the end of 2025. The Köniz municipal council is currently made up of one member each from the Greens, SP, GLP, FDP and SVP.
