Eastern Switzerland Fire in transformer station near Hefenhofen TG leads to power outage

A fire in a transformer station in Hefenhofen TG on Tuesday led to a power outage in a neighboring district for several hours. According to the police, the cause of the fire was a technical defect. No one was injured.

A resident reported smoke from a transformer station on Chirchägger to the cantonal emergency call center at around 2.15 p.m., as the Thurgau cantonal police wrote in a statement on Wednesday. The fire department quickly arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire.

The property damage cannot yet be quantified. A spokesperson for the cantonal police told the Keystone-SDA news agency that the power supply to the area was restored in the course of the evening.
