Five people were injured in a head-on collision in Rickenbach Sulz ZH. The road involved had to be closed temporarily.

After 7 p.m., a 47-year-old female driver and two children were driving from Rickenbach Sulz (municipality of Rickenbach) to Rickenbach, as reported by the Zurich cantonal police on Thursday evening. According to the statement, the driver was driving behind a tractor on the outskirts of the village when, for reasons that are not yet clear, she was involved in a head-on collision with an oncoming van.

The driver and her two children as well as the 41-year-old driver of the van and his co-driver sustained minor to moderate injuries in the accident, according to the statement. Four of the five injured were transported to hospital. The Winterthur rescue service was deployed with three ambulances and Zurich Protection and Rescue with one ambulance.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the cantonal police and the Winterthur/Unterland public prosecutor's office. The fire department secured the scene of the accident and set up a detour. A care team was deployed to look after those involved in the accident in hospital.
