Eastern Switzerland Former army building in Frauenfeld TG destroyed by fire
A fire largely destroyed a former army building in the town center of Frauenfeld TG on Friday night. The wooden building, which was used as storage space by the municipal works yard, also housed a hedgehog rescue station. According to the police, 20 animals were saved.

The fire broke out for unknown reasons at around 1 a.m., a spokesperson for the Thurgau cantonal police told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. Several passers-by had reported the fire in the building not far from the train station to the emergency services.
Around 60 firefighters were deployed. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly. The police had no information about injuries.
The building was largely destroyed, said the police spokesman. An as yet unknown amount of property damage was caused. The town of Frauenfeld had mainly used the former army building as storage space.
