Wolfgang Giella received 3019 votes in the election for city president. There was no official opposition. The 59-year-old has been mayor of Gossau since 2018. Back then, he ran as a non-party newcomer. He has since joined the FDP.

All four other members of the town council also stood again and were re-elected. As before, the committee is made up of school council president Stefan Rindlisbacher (FDP), Claudia Martin (SVP), Helen Alder Frey (center) and Florin Scherrer (center).

In the city council elections, the SVP wins one seat at the expense of the center and now has ten seats. The Center Party is the second strongest party with eight seats. The FDP, GLP-FLiG and SP were each able to retain their four seats.
