49-year-old Katrin Dihr has been elected as the new cantonal pharmacist by the Lucerne cantonal government. She will take over from Stephan Luterbacher, who is retiring at the end of March 2025, on January 1, 2025.

Dihr has spent the last six years as head of the hospital pharmacy in two hospitals, as announced by the Lucerne State Chancellery on Monday. Since November of last year, she has worked as deputy cantonal pharmacist and deputy head of therapeutic products at the Health and Sport Department. The pharmacist studied at Humboldt University in Berlin and Philipps University in Marburg.

Katrin Dihr will take up her new post at the beginning of the new year. She will succeed Stephan Luterbacher, who is retiring. He had held his post for 18 years.

As cantonal pharmacist, Dihr is responsible for monitoring therapeutic products companies, supervising the legally compliant practice of the therapeutic products professions and intervening if illegal trade is detected, according to the press release.
