The Audit Committee does not want to let the Bernese cantonal government off the hook so easily in connection with the flawed "Nevo/Rialto" IT project. The government should remain responsible until the data exchange between the police and the judiciary is up and running.

Dissatisfied users, additional costs, delays: the "Nevo/Rialto" IT project made headlines in 2022. The project was intended to digitalize and standardize the processes between the police and the public prosecutor's office. The Audit Committee (GPK) had the project scrutinized.
The cantonal parliament, the Grand Council, demanded a report, which the government has now delivered. The Grand Council will deal with the report in its fall session.
Among other things, the government concludes that the project is complete. The GPK does not share this view, as it writes in a press release on Monday. The project has only been introduced in the cantonal police, but not yet in the public prosecutor's office.
The GPK wants to keep up the pressure on the government with a planning declaration so that it continues to bear overall responsibility until the project has been introduced and is functioning everywhere as planned.
The government intends to set out the lessons learned by the canton from the unsuccessful start of the "Nevo/Rialto" project in a separate report.
The GPK has certain expectations of this report, as it writes further. In a second planning statement in the autumn session, it will demand that the report show how the canton will ensure that the lessons learned - namely in the areas of change management and employee training - are taken into account for future projects.
