The Habermacher family confirmed the closures on Monday at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. The family did not wish to provide any further details about the reasons or the employees. The bankruptcy was first reported by the Luzerner Zeitung. It wrote that the business would be closed in mid-August.
According to the website, the family business was founded in Schübelbach SZ in 1938. In 1986, Werner and Margrit Habermacher finally took over a bakery in Ebikon. In 2009, they opened another branch in Littau and in 2014 in Kriens. In the meantime, the Habermacher family had other branches in Horw and Lucerne, but these had to close again.
The bakery produced its baked goods not only for the branches, but also for many restaurants, hotels, care homes and hospitals in the Lucerne and Zug area, according to the website.
