In the coming years, the accounts will be burdened by major investments in the school infrastructure, as the municipal council wrote in a statement on Thursday. In addition, higher equalization payments to the canton are to be expected.
The budget for 2025 shows a deficit of around 1.9 million francs. In view of the current financial situation, this is acceptable, the statement continued. According to the municipal council, the development of the ICT sector, low unemployment and the new districts should also have a positive effect on tax revenue in the medium term.
The Ittiger municipal assembly will be able to decide on the 2025 task and finance plan on December 3. Thanks to the stable financial budget, the municipality was able to reduce the tax rate from 1.24 to 1.13 units by 2023. However, the 2023 financial year was characterized by low tax revenue and closed with a deficit of over CHF 1.2 million.
Ittigen is one of the most tax-efficient municipalities in the canton of Bern.
