As one of the venues for the 2025 European Women's Football Championships, Lucerne should have its own distinctive musical symbol. The city and canton have therefore launched a tender for a song.

The song for the host city of Lucerne is intended to increase anticipation for the Uefa Women's Euro 2025, as the major event is officially called, as detailed in a press release issued by the city and canton of Lucerne on Thursday.

At the same time, the aim is also to promote local music. According to the city and canton of Lucerne, the musical trademark should include local characteristics and cultural aspects of Central Switzerland.

Musicians from Central Switzerland can submit their compositions until November 8. A jury will then select the so-called Host City Lucerne Song. The winning song will be presented around 100 days before the start of the tournament. A music video will also be produced.

The European Football Championship will open in Basel on July 2. Three group matches will be played on the Allmend in Lucerne on July 5, 8 and 12.
