A fire broke out in a warehouse in Fideris GR on Wednesday morning, causing several hundred thousand francs worth of damage. It is the second major fire at a company in Prättigau within a week. It is being investigated whether the two fires are connected and whether arson is involved.

The fire was reported at around four o'clock in the morning, according to the Graubünden cantonal police on Wednesday. More than 60 firefighters found the warehouse fully engulfed in flames. In order to ensure the required amount of extinguishing water, water was brought in from the Landquart river and from the municipalities of Fideris and Jenaz in addition to the fire engines. The firefighters laid more than two kilometers of hoses.
Two fires in six days
The fire in Fideris is the second major fire in the Prättigau region in just a few days. Last Friday night, the building complex of a transport company with dozens of vehicles went up in flames in Valzeina.
According to the cantonal police, it is still too early to say whether the two incidents are connected. Police spokeswoman Anita Senti explained that they did not want to stir up unnecessary fear. "The investigations are going in all directions, including arson," she told the Keystone-SDA news agency.
