A missing man has been recovered dead from the Reuss in the canton of Aargau. The 40-year-old Swiss man had jumped into the water near the St. Karli Bridge in Lucerne at the end of June while fleeing from the police and had been missing since then, as the Lucerne public prosecutor's office announced on Monday.

The police had intended to check the man as he had been behaving conspicuously, as the public prosecutor's office announced at the time. There was suspicion of a narcotics offense. The man ignored the police's request to stop and jumped into the Reuss. The police were unable to find the man even after several hours of searching.

On July 8, the man was recovered dead from the Reuss in Mellingen. The investigation is being conducted by the Lucerne public prosecutor's office.
