The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. when the motorcyclist was driving behind a car on the overtaking lane. For reasons that are still unclear, there was a rear-end collision shortly before the Schönbühl exit, according to the Bern cantonal police.

Two of the three people in the car were also injured, but only slightly. They went to the doctor on their own. The section of highway involved had to be partially closed for several hours for the accident work. This led to traffic obstructions.

The police have launched an investigation into the accident.
