The federal government wants to spend 990 million on culture over the next three years.
This will be debated in the National Council on Wednesday.
The National Council has begun discussing the Confederation's Message on Culture for the years 2025 to 2028. On the basis of this dispatch, the Federal Council intends to spend around CHF 990 million on cultural funding in the years mentioned.
Among other things, money is to be spent on financial aid from the Federal Office of Culture, federal film funding, the Swiss National Museum and the Pro Helvetia cultural foundation. The National Council began its deliberations with the entry debate.
In the course of the detailed discussion in the large chamber on Wednesday, it is likely to be disputed whether or not the payment framework for Pro Helvetia should be reduced by 6.5 million. Another point of discussion will be whether a new commission for historically significant cultural heritage can be called upon unilaterally in cases of dispute or only with the consent of both parties.
The Council of States already dealt with the cultural dispatch in June and approved eleven of the twelve decrees that make up the dispatch.
