The federal government should, for example, oblige regional churches or sports clubs to introduce protection concepts to prevent abuse. This is what the National Council wants. On Wednesday, it adopted six motions with the same content.

The motions come from six National Councillors from six parties and five parliamentary groups: FDP, Center-EPP, GLP, SP and Greens. The six parliamentarians argue that the protection of children and young people is not guaranteed by some organizations today.

This has been shown by recent examples of sexual, physical and psychological abuse in the Catholic Church, in competitive sport and in ballet schools.

Professional measures are now needed in terms of prevention, reporting and crisis management. Organizations must be obliged to take responsibility and invest in structural and process quality.
