In the canton of Aargau, the proportion of empty apartments has fallen again within a year. The vacancy rate fell from 1.40 to 1.30 percent, as Statistik Aargau announced on Tuesday. Of around 345,000 residential units in the canton, 4,500 were unoccupied on June 1.

This is 278 units fewer than in June 2023, according to the report. Since the peak of 8733 apartments in 2020, the number has fallen for the fourth time - albeit at a slower rate than in previous years.
In the districts of Lenzburg and Zofingen, the number of empty apartments has risen, while it has fallen in the other nine districts. The districts of Kulm (2.64 percent) and Zofingen (2.36 percent) have the highest proportion of empty residential units. This figure was lowest in the districts of Muri (0.59), Aarau (0.86) and Lenzburg (0.99).
Significantly more vacant single-family homes
Of 100 vacant apartments, 73 are for rent and 27 for sale. There are 3682 vacant apartments in apartment buildings, 433 fewer than in the previous year. The trend is reversed for single-family homes: 818 were vacant, 155 more than in the previous year.
