Labor market Number of unemployed in the canton of Berne virtually unchanged
The unemployment rate in the canton of Bern remained at 1.6 percent in June. 9107 people were registered as unemployed. This is 77 fewer than in the previous month, as reported by the Bernese Department of Economic Affairs on Thursday.

As is usual at this time of year, the number of unemployed fell in the construction and hospitality industries in particular. There was an increase in the mechanical, electrical and metal industries. There were also more unemployed in the education and teaching sector.
Unemployment fell in four out of ten administrative districts and remained stable or increased slightly in three administrative districts. The sharpest fall in the unemployment rate was in the Obersimmental-Saanen administrative district, which is dominated by tourism.
