Of the 2634 students who left the 3rd secondary class or the bridge courses, 2554 have found a follow-up solution for after the summer vacations. This corresponds to a rate of 97 percent, as reported by the Thurgau Office for Vocational Education and Career Guidance on Tuesday. 71.4 percent of the young people will start an apprenticeship.
328 pupils, or 12.5 percent, will attend a secondary school after the summer vacation. 344 young people (13.1 percent) have opted for a bridging program, which prepares them for basic vocational training after compulsory schooling, or for another follow-up solution. 80 pupils have not yet found a further training place, the Office for Vocational Training and Career Guidance added. Compared to the previous year, this rate has risen from 2.6 to three percent.
The Office for Vocational Training and Career Guidance is confident that many of these young people will find a training place in the coming weeks. New apprenticeship contracts are currently being received for approval on an ongoing basis and around 600 apprenticeships in the canton are still registered as open.
Apprenticeships in the retail trade are popular
The most popular apprenticeship in terms of apprenticeship contracts is the apprenticeship to become a merchant, followed by healthcare specialist. Compared to the previous year, the apprenticeship to become a retail specialist has become significantly more popular and is now in third place. Apprenticeships in agriculture and logistics or as draughtsmen and draughtswomen are also very popular.
