On Tuesday evening, the Zug City Council voted in favor of relocating the fallow deer at Alpenquai. The city council must now examine whether the deer and hinds can be moved to the Zurlaubenhof or to another location.

If this is not possible, the deer could also be passed on to a zoo, the SVP parliamentary group suggested in its postulate. They argue that the current enclosure is too noisy and that the animals would have a better quality of life in a more species-appropriate habitat. In addition, the enclosure is always very muddy when it rains or snows.

The party wants to incorporate the vacant land on Alpenquai into the local planning revision and develop it into an attractive meeting place for the population, as was revealed in a statement from the municipal council on Wednesday.

The Alternative - Die Grünen Zug (ALG) could also imagine a more attractive use for the area on Alpenquai. However, it was of the opinion that a concept for the use of the Zurlaubenhof should be drawn up first. She argued that the postulate should not be referred.

The SP parliamentary group did not think it was ideal to decide on the matter now. However, it was in favor of examining where the deer could be placed apart from the Zurlaubehof and was therefore in favor of referral.

The ALG-CSP motion not to refer the matter was rejected by 25 votes to 10. The postulate was transferred.
