Road traffic accident Pedestrian hit by van in Gwatt and seriously injured

A serious traffic accident occurred in Gwatt in the municipality of Thun on Tuesday evening. The pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision between a pedestrian and a van, as reported by the Bern cantonal police on Wednesday.

According to current police information, a van was traveling from Thun in the direction of Spiez when it collided with a pedestrian who was about to cross the pedestrian crossing.

After being assisted by third parties, the seriously injured man was taken to hospital by ambulance, according to a statement. The driver of the van was not injured.

The accident occurred on Gwattstrasse near the campsite. The road was completely closed for several hours.

The circumstances of the accident have not yet been clarified. The police have started an investigation.
