New connections, closer intervals: The service concept for public transport in the Biel, Seeland and Bernese Jura region is entering the public consultation phase. The service concept makes proposals for the years 2027 to 2030.

Among other things, the concept contains proposals to increase the frequency of services on certain routes or at certain times in the Bellelay region. For example, on the Bellelay-Reconvilier route, as detailed in the press release issued by the Regional Transport Conference Biel, Seeland, Bernese Jura on Tuesday.

A new bus route from Twann via La Neuveville to Nods is to start operating in the northern shore of Lake Biel region. The bus service is intended to compensate for the closure of the railroad station in Ligerz.

In the Ins/Erlach area, there are plans to improve bus connections to the Neuchâtel conurbation. In addition, the municipality of Treiten is to be made accessible by public transport.

Bus connections are also to be improved in the Seedorf area. The transport conference would like to include the Täuffelen-Aarberg line, which is currently operated as a public bus, in the basic service. It will now run via Kappelen to Lyss. New routes and more frequent services are also being considered in the Biel area.

Now it is the turn of the municipalities, trade associations, transport companies and other interested parties: they have until the end of October to submit their opinions on the service concept.

The Regional Transport Conference draws up such a service concept every four years and reviews the rail and bus services. Where necessary, it proposes improvements.
