The municipal council is requesting two loans from the city council for this renovation. The municipal council would like to increase the original project planning credit to CHF 1.6 million for the implementation of a quality assurance procedure and the preparation of a preliminary and construction project, including tendering and bridging measures, as it wrote in a press release on Thursday.
The municipal council is also requesting a credit of 360,000 Swiss francs for the upcoming project planning work up to and including the invitation to tender for the new toilet facility, it added.
In 2020, the city started initial groundwork and a consultation process. A concrete project is now to be drawn up. This project planning work should be completed by 2027. Construction will start in 2028 at the earliest.
The Rose Garden has never been completely renovated and the last major redesign was over 60 years ago. The rose garden therefore has structural, conceptual and design deficiencies in various areas.
