The Schaffhausen High Court has rejected an appeal against the election of Councillor of States Simon Stocker (SP). The complainant questioned whether Stocker's place of residence was really in Schaffhausen.

In its ruling, which was published on Wednesday, the High Court wrote that Stocker had his usual place of residence in Schaffhausen at the time of the election. The appeal was therefore unfounded.

Stocker's family lives in Zurich, but he also rents an apartment in Schaffhausen. The complainant argued in court that the center of life was where the children lived.

The ruling could still be appealed to the Federal Supreme Court. When asked by Keystone-SDA, the complainant's lawyer left it open as to whether this will happen.
