Sports facilities Schoren ice rink in Langenthal to be renovated step by step
The Schoren ice and curling rink in Langenthal is to be gradually extended and renovated. On August 19, the city parliament will decide on an investment contribution of CHF 600,000.

If the city council approves the contribution, the best project and the responsible general planning team for the next planning phases will then be selected from several submissions in a quality assurance process, as announced by Kunsteisbahn Langenthal AG (KEB) on Wednesday.
A feasibility study had shown that a long-term and comprehensive ice sports infrastructure with two ice rinks and a three-rink curling hall, including all necessary ancillary rooms, was possible at the current location. However, this would be difficult due to the limited space available.
The current location offers the opportunity to implement expansions in stages. However, full implementation of the feasibility study is not realistic at the present time.
In a first phase, the existing ice rink is to be extended in the changing room area and the entire building is to be renovated in terms of energy, construction and technology, the report continued.
No second ice rink
The expanded and renovated stadium with 3,000 seats will meet the requirements of the second-highest ice hockey league. This would give the Langenthal Ice Skating Club the option of returning to professional sport.
The project does not include the construction of a second ice rink for the time being. The two-rink curling rink is to remain at its existing location and be upgraded.
The financial framework for the overall project is CHF 20 million. The referendum for the investment contribution to the realization is expected to take place at the end of 2027, as announced by the KEB.
