Hanspeter Krüsi, media spokesman for the St. Gallen cantonal police, confirmed a report by the news platform "FM1Today" at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency.

On Monday morning, the rescue teams had once again searched the course of the river from the place where the Romanian drowned to the mouth of the river at Lake Zurich using sonar and police divers. However, the search was unsuccessful.

The report of the person from the canton of Glarus who had gone under in the river and never resurfaced reached the emergency call center shortly after 2.30 p.m. on Sunday. A large contingent of firefighters, rescue services and police divers then began the search for the missing person.

Various police forces and the Swiss Life Saving Association (SLRG) are currently warning against swimming in rivers. Due to the high water levels, unpredictable and dangerous eddies and currents can arise.
