Irritant annoyance Severe coughing fits due to irritant development in Oberägeri ZG

An as yet unknown irritant in the air caused several people in Oberägeri ZG to develop coughing fits on Monday evening. However, no one was injured, as the Zug law enforcement authorities reported on Tuesday.

Shortly after 5.30 p.m., several people noticed a pungent smell at the terminus of the Zugerland transport company on Poststrasse in Oberägeri. According to the communiqué, this caused those affected to cough intensely for several minutes. Five people were medically examined on site, but all remained unharmed.

The Oberägeri fire department and the Zug fire department cordoned off the affected area and took appropriate measurements. The closure in the village center was lifted again at around 7.30 pm. It is not yet known what kind of irritant was involved.
