Unemployment in the canton of Zurich fell slightly in June. The unemployment rate fell from 2.1 to 2.0 percent. The national unemployment rate currently stands at 2.3 percent and is therefore slightly higher.
At the end of June, 17,704 people were registered as unemployed with the Regional Employment Centers (RAV) of the canton of Zurich, as the canton announced on Thursday. The unemployment figures thus remained very constant compared to the previous month (-44 people).
"Slight economic slowdown"
However, the decline in unemployment figures is weaker than would be expected for this time of year. This indicates that a "slight economic slowdown" is making itself felt on the labor market. However, the Zurich economy remains in robust shape.
A majority of companies assess the current business situation as positive. The majority are also optimistic about the future. In the financial sector, however, there are signs of declining employment expectations.
