The Solothurn (BSU) and Grenchen (BGU) bus companies want to merge. The final decision will be made at the general meetings in May or June 2025.

Together, the bus companies want to expand their services and exploit synergies, as the two companies announced on Friday. In addition, necessary infrastructure such as electric buses, charging infrastructure in garages, software for charging management and a new generation of ticket machines could be procured jointly in future.

The boards of directors of BSU and BGU are convinced that the passengers of both networks will benefit from the merger, the statement added. The decision will be made by the shareholders of the bus companies at the Annual General Meeting.

The shape of the new company will be clarified by the end of 2024 with the involvement of the shareholders. It is already clear that the locations in Grenchen and Zuchwil will be retained and expanded in view of the future bus service.
