The Audit Committee of the Solothurn Cantonal Council sees a need for action in the organization of hospitals in the canton. It sees it as the government's task to clarify whether the canton's own Solothurner Spitäler AG complies with personnel regulations.

The State Chancellery announced on Monday that the Audit Committee of the Cantonal Council (GPK) had already initiated preliminary investigations at the beginning of the year. This was due to anonymous letters from people close to Solothurner Spitäler AG (soH) that had been received by members of the commission, as well as personnel matters that had become public knowledge.
At its meeting on July 2, the GPK heard from Government Councillor Susanne Schaffner, soH Chairman of the Board of Directors Kurt Fluri and soH CEO Franziska Berger. The focus was on the functional bonuses paid to former CEO Martin Häusermann and the external investigation requested by the cantonal government.
The GPK is awaiting the results of the investigation announced for the fall with great interest and will then decide on further steps. Parliamentary oversight in this matter is only supplementary to the oversight of the cantonal government.
Legal and legislative clarification
Based on current knowledge, it will be necessary to clarify open questions regarding parliamentary oversight of public limited companies. This will be done by legal means and possibly by amending laws, writes the GPK.
Research by the "Solothurner Zeitung" revealed in June that Häusermann, who retired at the end of January, continued to receive a high salary until his 65th birthday in November. In addition, he had received function bonuses of up to CHF 5,000 per month on top of his salary of over CHF 340,000.
