The Fribourg cantonal police flashed a speeding driver on the A1 highway near Courgevaux on Thursday night. They confiscated his driver's license and his vehicle, as they announced on Thursday.

The speeding driver was measured at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour (km/h). The speed limit was 100 km/h. The police stopped him and questioned him, as they wrote in a statement on Thursday.

The 24-year-old, who lives in England, was driving through the Tunnel des Vignes from Avenches in the direction of Murten.

He was stopped by a patrol of the Bern cantonal police and questioned in the presence of a lawyer in accordance with the provisions of Via Sicura. The accused will be reported to the public prosecutor.
