Traffic accident Steel rod pierces windshield in car accident in Menznau

An intoxicated man crashed his car into parked vehicles, walls and properties in Menznau on Sunday morning. He had previously collided with the railing of a grocery store, whereupon a chrome steel bar pierced the windshield of the car.

The 46-year-old man from Eritrea was taken to hospital for a check-up, as reported by Lucerne police on Monday. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.32 per mille. The man's driving license was revoked and he had to undergo a blood and urine test. The damage to property amounts to around 30,000 francs.
