At around 11.45 p.m., a police patrol on Wilerstrasse in Münchwilen TG noticed a car in front of them that had been reported stolen, as reported by the Thurgau cantonal police on Sunday. The car was stopped for inspection shortly afterwards on Zürcherstrasse in Wil. The 42-year-old Algerian did not have a Swiss driver's license.

He and his 28-year-old Tunisian co-driver were subsequently arrested. According to initial police investigations, the two men are suspected of having stolen the car five days ago in Guntershausen near Berg SG. The police began an investigation in collaboration with the public prosecutor's office.
